Round 1 goes Nationwide: SPEED returns to capture the carnage!
The Team Demolition Association is excited to announce the return of SPEED to Route 66 Raceway for Round 1 of the Tournament of Destruction next Saturday May 26th! Team Demolition Derby will make another apperance on the widely popular "Lucas Oil...On The Edge" program, now in it's 8th season.
Last year, the SPEED cameras were rolling for the incredible Round 3 event in July that is considered one of the most chaotic, dramatic and destructive events in the sport's history. The anticipation for the new season was already high, now the added national exposure will certainly crank up the emotions and wreckage to the next level. We'll have all the details on the air date when its available, all you have to worry about is being in attendence to watch it all unfold LIVE!
Spy photos from the shops; final preparations underway!
The TeamDemo.com cameras captured spy shots from Reckoning, Orange Crush and Junkyard Dogs over the weekend for a glimpse at some of the race-ready relics they've been thrashing on for weeks. Orange Crush also sent in photos from another build location that is home to some competitor's cars too! As part of Military Appreciation Night on May 26, all 8 teams will represent a branch of the United States Armed Forces with a specially designed Beauty Contest car that will compete in the opening round of racing! Pick your favorite team, favorite Force, and be ready to salute them and our Military with the loudest ovation to kick-off the event!

Tournament of Destruction Military Appreciation Night: Wounded Warrior Project
Team Demolition Association continues to expand different elements of the Tournament of Destruction both on-track and off through fan interaction and public awareness for national charities and causes. Round 1 on May 26 is "Military Appreciation Night," the first of 5 themed events this season, aimed at acknowledging all our past and present armed forces heroes.
Dig through the couch cushions, empty the cup holders, gather all the spare coins you have laying around and bring them to Route 66 Raceway on May 26! During the Pit Party and at the gate, TDA will be accepting donations on behalf of the Wounded Warrior Project and want Team Demo fans to cram as much spare change into the giant jars as possible! There will be a table full of Wounded Warrior gear at the Pit Party that you can take and show proudly for free!
Parking lot entrance opens at 4:00pm on race day; Pit Party begins at 5:00 right outside the main grandstand entrance. Come support our troops, clear out your coin clutter, and of course witness the greatest demolition derby spectacle in the country!

2012 Team Demolition Association Rulebook / New Spectator Series Updates
Figure-8 Car & Truck "Spectator Series" racing will again be a fixture of the Tournament of Destruction all summer at Route 66 Raceway. Last year's champions Phil Duffin and Doug McCarty will be back to defend their titles against dozens of returning and new opponents. The Spectator Series is the perfect opportunity for you to become part of the action! The 2012 TDA Rulebook (.pdf) is now available with the build rules for Team Demo cars and the two Figure-8 classes. As in 2011, there is NO pre-registration available or necessary for competition. Build your vehicle to meet the guidelines then bring it on race day, purchase a $25 Pit Pass and you're in!
However, Figure-8 racers must be aware of two new rules for this season:
-- All racers MUST pre-register their desired vehicle number (2 digits only) with the TDA office. This number will be used all season. Once a number is chosen, no other driver may use it. Email or call the TDA office at 815-469-3619 to lock in your number now!
-- All vehicles MUST have a 2' x 2' sign mounted to the roof displaying the vehicle's number on both sides.
Both of these measures are to help improve scoring of the races and to avoid driver's having to changing numbers on race night.
